Personalize Emails with Placeholders

Personalize your Sunergo Emails with subscriber placeholders so each recipient can see their own name in your message.

Supported placeholders

You can insert these placeholders in email content:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Full Name

If a recipient does not have name data available, Sunergo uses the default value entered for that placeholder.

Add placeholders to an email

  1. Open an email and edit a text block.
  2. Place your cursor where you want personalized text.
  3. Select {} Insert Placeholder in the editor toolbar.
  4. Choose First Name, Last Name, or Full Name.
  5. Enter a default value (for example, Friend) and insert the placeholder.

Where placeholder names come from

Subscribers

  • Subscribers can set their own first and last name.
  • Admins can also set or update first and last name when editing an existing subscriber.

Contact Filters

If recipients are included through Contact Filters, Sunergo pulls first and last name from matching contacts in Sunergo Church or Sunergo Member tools.

What happens when you send

  1. Sunergo saves the placeholders and defaults from your email content.
  2. Recipient name data is prepared so each email can be personalized.
  3. Placeholders are replaced for each recipient before delivery.

Example

If your message includes a greeting with a default fallback, recipients without a saved name still receive a natural greeting.
