This article tracks changes to CRA Charitable Donation guidelines/policies that may impact the receipting process.

2024 Donations - Potential Extension #

The Government of Canada recently announced plans to extend 2024 charitable donations to February 28, 2025. While the legislation hasn’t passed yet, we wanted to assure you that Sunergo has got you covered!

Annual Receipts #

When issuing annual receipts in Sunergo Church, you can specify which dates you would like the receipt to include.

If and when the Canadian government passes the legislation, you can change the To field to “02/28/2025” to issue one receipt to cover gifts given from Jan 2024 to Feb 2025.

You can also choose to issue a separate annual receipt for Jan 2025 to Feb 2025.

One-Time Receipts #

If a donor gives in January or February 2025, but wants to use some gifts for 2024 and some for 2025, you can issue a One-Time Receipt in Sunergo.

The donor would need to give the specific amounts in separate gifts, then you can issue a One-Time Receipt for the specific gifts to be used for 2024. Gifts Already Receipted

Gifts that have already been receipted will automatically be excluded for next year. This means you don’t need to make any changes when you issue receipts for 2025 in February 2026!
